Welcoming Your Emotions
"A time to weep and a time to laugh."
— Ecclesiastes 3:4
I was sometimes taught to hide my emotions, to repress them, to act as if I wasn't hurting. But these denied emotions don't disappear; they accumulate and come out another way.
Teach me to acknowledge my emotions. To name them, to welcome them, to fully experience them. Sadness, anger, fear, joy—all have their place and their message.
May I feel without identifying with my emotions, let them pass like waves without drowning in them. My emotions are precious indicators, not enemies to fight.
Amen.
Reflection
What emotion do you tend to repress? Today, give it space. Name it, feel it, without judgment.
For all those who fear their emotions and are learning to welcome them.
