Poverty and Solidarity

Father of the poor,
Poverty exists everywhere in our world. Glaring inequalities separate those who have everything from those who have nothing.
Forgive us for our indifference to poverty. For the times we look away, when we find excuses, when we do nothing.
Awaken solidarity in us. May we not content ourselves with occasional charity but fight for justice, truly share, defend the rights of the poor.
