Forgiving Yourself

"Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."

— Romans 8:1

Father of mercy,

I am often my own harshest judge. I dwell on my mistakes, reproach myself for my weaknesses, condemn myself for my failures. This inner voice that constantly criticizes me prevents me from moving forward freely.

Teach me to forgive myself as You forgive me. To look at my imperfections with the same compassion You have for me. I am human, fragile, perpetually learning. My mistakes do not define who I am.

Free me from this prison of guilt. Help me learn from the past without being trapped by it, to grow in kindness toward myself. May I finally treat myself with the gentleness I deserve.

Amen.

Reflection

What past mistake do you keep reproaching yourself for? Today, try to speak to yourself as you would to a dear friend who had done the same thing.

For those who are prisoners of their regrets and their guilt.
