Hope

"Hope does not put us to shame."

— Romans 5:5

Father of hope,

When I look at the world, the news, the challenges ahead, I can feel discouraged. When I look at my own life, my failures, my difficulties, I can lose hope.

Yet You call me to hope. Not naive optimism that denies problems, but that deep confidence that evil, suffering, and death never have the last word.

Rekindle in me that hope which believes in better days, which works to build them, which refuses discouragement. May I be for others a witness of hope, a voice that says it is always possible to start again.

Amen.

Reflection

Hope is nourished by small victories. Today, look back: what obstacle have you already overcome? That can give you confidence for the future.

For all those who are tempted by despair and resignation.
