Benevolence
"Clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness."
— Colossians 3:12
God of kindness,
Benevolence is a gentle but powerful quality. It assumes the good in others, offers the benefit of the doubt, chooses the generous interpretation.
Give me a benevolent gaze toward others. May I see the best in everyone rather than focusing on flaws. May I give others the chance to surprise me positively.
May my benevolence also extend to myself. May I treat myself with the same generosity I would like to offer others. Benevolence begins with oneself.
Amen.

Reflection
Toward whom could you be more benevolent today? Toward yourself? Toward someone who annoys you?
For benevolence to spread in our relationships and in the world.
