Forgiving Others

"Forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you."

— Ephesians 4:32

Father of mercy,

There are people who have hurt me, wrongs that still weigh on me, grudges I have carried for too long. This burden is heavy and poisons my heart.

Help me to forgive. Not to minimize what happened or to say it doesn't matter, but to free my heart from the bitterness that gnaws at it. Forgiveness is first a gift I give to myself.

Grant me the grace to see the wounded humanity behind the one who hurt me. To understand that the perfect person does not exist, that we are all wounded people who sometimes wound others. May I forgive as You forgive me.

Amen.

Reflection

Forgiveness is a process, not a single event. Is there someone you need to forgive? Even if it's not yet complete, can you take a step in that direction?

For all those who carry the weight of resentment and seek the freedom of forgiveness.
