The Spirit of Childhood
"Unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."
— Matthew 18:3
Father,
Children have something I have often lost: wonder, spontaneity, the ability to live in the present moment, natural trust.
Restore in me a spirit of childhood. Not immaturity but that freshness of perspective, that ability to play, that simple joy. May I rediscover wonder at ordinary things.
Keep me from the cynicism that kills joy, from the seriousness that crushes lightness. May I be serious in my responsibilities without losing the ability to laugh, to wonder, to play.
Amen.

Reflection
What filled you with wonder when you were a child? How could you recover some of that capacity for wonder?
For all children and that we may all rediscover a child's heart.
